HOME VISITS

For a preemie mother motherhood can come with extra challenges. Most mothers who have given birth prematurely will lose the support of their husband because to give birth prematurely comes with large responsibilities and is considered a curse. These mothers struggle to keep their preemies alive on their own. Our work does not stop at the hospital. From the hospitals, we do follow up visits at their homes. We do regular home visits, helping them to safely transition from the hospital to the home. We teach them what do to in the absence of nurses and incubators. We continue doing these home visits until the new babies are strong enough and the mothers are equipped to care for the baby on their own. When this is achieved we invite them to the Mama Tulia Centre.
